Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN and HLN. She is frequently featured on CNN's 'New Day Weekend' and HLN's 'Weekend Express', as well being a regular guest on CNN International shows. Before being hired by CNN in June 2015, she served as meteorologist for regional stations located in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her coverage has included all kinds of weather events, including hurricanes, blizzards storms, flooding, and wildfires. In fact, she received the Emmy nomination in recognition of her coverage of Dorian, the hurricane that struck the Bahamas in 2019. Dorian which struck the Bahamas in 2019. Then she reported on her coverage of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011. More than 350 tornadoes struck across the Southeastern United States in just four days. More than 200 of those on April 27th, alone. Her background in the field of environmental science has enabled her to write stories concerning climate change, as well as natural disasters, such as earthquakes, volcanoes, etc. Chinchar has a Bachelors of Science of Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. Chinchar also belongs to the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
